Texas A&M Clinches Ole Miss Series, 7-2

The No. 12 Texas A&M softball team clinched the Ole Miss series Sunday, 7-2, at Davis Diamond.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 12 Texas A&M softball team clinched the Ole Miss series Sunday, 7-2, at Davis Diamond. 
 
After an overnight halt with Texas A&M leading Ole Miss, 7-2, in the top of the fifth with bases loaded and two outs, Emiley Kennedy entered the circle to end the threat with a swinging strikeout. Kennedy recorded her fifth save of the season finishing out the game pitching 2.1 hitless innings and striking out two and yielding two walks.
 
Texas A&M (36-9, 14-6 SEC) jumped on Ole Miss (25-21, 3-14 SEC) in the opening frame as Amari Harper led off with her first career home run before adding a pair of runs to lead 3-0. The Rebels answered with a solo home in the top of the second, before the Aggies got the run back to lead 4-1 after three innings.
 
The Aggies pulled away in the fourth frame scoring three runs one hit and one error to lead 7-1 before Ole Miss added a run in the top of the fifth before play halted.
 
Shaylee Ackerman (7-1) earned the win pitching 4.2 innings and striking out three, while yielding two hits and two runs.

B1 | Amari Harper led off with her first career home run. Kramer Eschete walked and stole second, before Jazmine Hill walked and Eschete advancing to third on a passed ball. Jazmine Hill stole second and Eschete scored. Trinity Cannon grounded out to score Hill. TAMU 3, OM 0

B3 | Eschete reached first on a throwing error before stealing second and Hill was walked for the second time. Julia Cottrill singled up the middle to score Eschete. TAMU 4, OM 1
 
B4 | Three consecutive two-out walks from Harper, Eschete and Hill loaded the bases. Cottrill singled through the right side driving Harper and Eschete, while Hill scored on a throwing error by the shortstop and Cottrill advanced to third. TAMU 7, OM 1
 
T5 | Orman walked and was pinch ran for by Womack, back-to-back walks loaded the bases. Pone singled up the middle to score Womack. TAMU 7, OM 2
