No. 4 Aggies Drop Middle Game to No. 2 Arkansas

The No. 4 Texas A&M baseball team dropped the middle game of its three-game set with No. 2 Arkansas, 6-3, Friday evening from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 4 Texas A&M baseball team dropped the middle game of its three-game set with No. 2 Arkansas, 6-3, Friday evening from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.  
 
The Aggies (43-11, 18-11) struck first in the opening frame behind a two-run opposite field homer off the bat of Braden Montgomery. The long ball marked 25th of the year for the junior and traveled 363 feet.
 
The Razorbacks (43-11, 20-9) responded in the second as they pushed across a run on three hits to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
 
After Arkansas tied the game at 2-2 with a solo homer in the top half of the third, the Maroon & White responded with an RBI single from Jace LaViolette in the bottom half to regain the lead, 3-2.
 
The Razorbacks evened the score in the sixth with an RBI single and later took the lead, 6-3, in the eighth on a three-run homer to left.
 
The Aggies went down in order in both the eighth and the ninth as they fell 6-3.
 
Josh Stewart suffered the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of work. On the offensive end, Montgomery logged the lone multi-hit performance of the night for Texas A&M.
