PARIS – Texas A&M signee Théo Papamalamis advanced to the third round of the French Open boys singles before falling 6-4, 6-4 to Rei Sakamoto of Japan at Roland Garros Stadium.

In reaching the third round of the boys singles draw, Papamalamis, who is from Paris, beat Alexander Vasilev of Bulgaria, 6-1, 7-6, and Cooper Woesterdick of the United States, 7-6, 6-2.

Previously, Papamalamis fell in the first round of the men's singles qualifying to 30-year old countryman Gregoire Barrere, 6-3, 6-1. In the boys doubles, Papamalamis and partner Mae Malige fell to Sakamoto and Federico Cina (Italy), 7-6, 6-1.

The 18-year old righthander is ranked No. 19 in singles and doubles in the ITF Junior Rankings as of June 3, 2024.
