BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M and TCU rekindle what has become the most anticipated annual non-conference soccer match in the Lone Star State when the Aggies host the Horned Frogs Thursday. Match time at Ellis Field is 7 p.m.
Â
Since the series fired back up in April 2021 of the elongated Covid campaign all four matches have been decided by one goal with the Horned Frogs owning a 3-1-0 edge.
Â
The Aggies look to get back over the .500 mark having seesawed wins and losses through the first four matches. Texas A&M owns shutouts against Lamar (5-0) and Lamar (3-0) with narrow losses against Denver (3-2) and Baylor (1-0). Sydney Becerra leads the team with seven points on three goals and one assist.
Â
Texas A&M enters the contest with head coach G Guerrieri ranked second among active NCAA Division I coaches. He is two wins from moving past former Florida skipper Becky Burleigh for eighth place on the NCAA's list for coaching wins among all divisions and fourth place all-time among NCAA Division I coaches.
Â
TCU rides into Aggieland with a 4-1-0 record with shutouts accounting for all four victories. The Horned Frogs have a two-match win streak with victories against Central Michigan (3-0) and SMU (1-0). TCU's other wins are against Alabama (3-0) and Charlotte (3-0). The only blemish is a 4-0 loss at Notre Dame. Seven Castain leads the squad with seven points on three goals and one assist. Bella Diorio also has three goals on the year.
Â
Since the Aggies started the program in 1993, Texas A&M is 13-3-0 against the Horned Frogs but TCU has won the last three meetings, all by one goal – 2-1 in 2022 and '23, and 1-0 in '24. Prior to TCU's three wins, the Aggies had a string of eight consecutive shutouts in the series. As a matter of fact, the Maroon & White outscored TCU 41-4 in the first 13 matches of the series.
