SAMMAMISH, Wash. – The No. 19 Texas A&M men's golf team opened the 2024-25 campaign sitting in 11th place after two rounds at the Sahalee Players Championship.
The Maroon & White moved up two spots in the second round with a 2-over 290 after opening with a 301 tally in the morning round at the par-72, 7,007-yard Sahalee Country Club.
Arizona State owns a five-stroke lead going to the final round sitting at 10-under 566. The Sun Devils are joined by Pepperdine (-5), Oklahoma State (E), Arizona (+4) and Northwestern (+5) in the top five.
Phichaksn Maichon paced the Aggies with an even 144 after carding rounds of 73 and 71. He is tied with five other golfers in 15th place, five strokes behind individual leader Preston Summerhays (-5) of Arizona State.
Jaime Montojo is tied for 21st at 1-over 145. He matched Maichon's second round 71 after opening with a 74.
In his collegiate debut, freshman Wheaton Ennis is tied for 34th place after rounds at 3-over 147. He leapt up 11 spots on the leaderboard with his round of even 72 in the second round.
Aaron Pounds, Vishnu Sadagopan and Jack Usner will look to make similar bounds up the leaderboard Sunday as they all recorded two-round tallies of 157 in Saturday's action.
The Aggies' start Sunday's round on hole 10 with tee times starting at 9:55 a.m. Texas A&M is paired with Oregon for the final round.
