White Defeats Maroon in Annual Scrimmage

The Texas A&M equestrian team held its annual Maroon & White scrimmage Sunday morning at the Hildebrand Equine Complex, with the White Team emerging victoriously, 15-10.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M equestrian team held its annual Maroon & White scrimmage Sunday morning at the Hildebrand Equine Complex, with the White Team emerging victoriously, 15-10.
 
White picked up its first four points of the day in Flat, led by Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) Rylee Shufelt, who logged an 87 on Fire. Londyn Samlaska (81), Maeve O'Donovan (80) and Skyler Allen (69) also recorded points for White. On the Maroon side, Nicole McMillion scored a team-high 76 on Misty, while Maggie Nealon (74), Grace Shipman (72) and Kendall Austin (70) recorded the team's three points.
 
On the Western side, White captured a 3-2 victory to take a 7-5 lead into the intermission. Isabelle Gonzalez had the high score of the day with a 69.5 on Shorty en route to MOP honors. Moriah McQueen (67) and Lauren Hanson (63.5) recorded the remaining two points for White. For Maroon, Dylanne Rodriguez (70) and Brooke Hudson (69) tallied the team's two points.
 
Out of the break, the two sides tied in Horsemanship at 4-4. Hanna Olaussen earned MOP honors for White after a high score of 75 on Bleu. Kendall Dirksen (71.5), Kaylynn Heitman (71.5) and Ella McCullough (68.5) added to the total for White. On the Maroon side, Megan Braun (71.5), Marina Caputo (70.5), Ella Roberts (70) and Lenora Roberts (65.5) tallied points.
 
White dominated in Fences to close out the event, winning 4-1. Ali Treuting garnered MOP honors after scoring an 88 on Chapman. Alexa Leong followed with an 87, while Karsen Kadien (76) and Reagan Royalty (76) rounding out the final points for White. Devon Thomas recorded the lone tally for Maroon with an 88 on Gipsy.
 
The Aggies kickstart their 2024-25 season on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. when they host SMU at the Hildebrand Equine Center.
