MEET PREVIEW: McFerrin 12-Degree Invitational
Jan 11, 2024 | Track and Field
The Texas A&M track & field team opens its 2024 indoor campaign as it hosts the McFerrin 12-Degree Invitational in the new R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track & Field Saturday with field events starting at 10 a.m. and track events at 2 p.m.
The Aggies will host their first meet since the 2022 season, following the construction of the Fasken Indoor Track. The new 130,000-squared-foot facility makes its competitive debut in the Maroon & White's first action this season.
"What anybody coming to Texas A&M knows is that there is a commitment to our sport here," head coach Pat Henry said. "We've won nine times, and these facilities certainly help us do that.".
A&M is coming off an indoor season which included a national title for Lamara Distin in the high jump, along with 11 First Team All-America honors, four Second Team All-America honors, a pair of SEC indoor titles and four third-place conference finishes.
"Meet day brings the best out of people," Henry added. "I want to know who will line up and compete and then see where we're at. Competing is the fun part for me so I'm excited for Saturday."
Four programs are making the trip to Aggieland for the debut meet including Baylor, Florida, Oklahoma and TCU.
Fans can follow the meet on SEC Network+ or keep track of live results at the event through Flash Results.
