Six Aggies Advance at the ITA Texas Regional

WACO – The Texas A&M men's tennis team opened with a successful day of play as six Aggies advance to the round of 32 at the ITA Texas Regional at the Hurd Tennis Center on Friday.
No. 1 seed JC Roddick started play for the Aggies this morning with a match against Rahil Sachdev of Texas. The senior came out with the win, 6-1, 6-0.
Fellow senior Giulio Perego took on Meethre Barot of UTA. The No. 6 seed advanced with a 6-0, 6-3 victory.
No. 7 seed Luke Casper went up against Emilio Vila of Incarnate Word. The senior clinched the win in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
Junior Togan Tokac played his first match against Petro Kuzmenok of Rice. The No. 8 seed advances after his win, 6-4, 6-3.
Sophomore Tiago Pires had his first match against Arthus de la Bassetiere of Rice. Pires fought a three-set battle to take the victory, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
Redshirt freshman Ritesh Patil faced Alejandro Hernandez of Incarnate World and claimed the victory, 6-4, 6-4.
Graduate Matthis Ross fought hard but fell against Danijal Muminovic of UTSA, 6-4, 7-6 (11-9). Junior Ethan Silva came up short against Kabeer Kapasi of Rice, 6-3, 7-6 (1). Sophomore Grant Lothringer battled hard against Noah McDonald of Southern Methodist, coming up short in two tiebreakers, 7-6 (0), 7-6 (5). These three Aggies will continue play in the consolation bracket.
Play continues tomorrow, Oct. 19, with the singles and doubles rounds of 32. The consolation bracket round of 32 will also take place on Saturday.
