Perego/Ross Claim First Win at Big 12-SEC Challenge

WACO – The Texas A&M doubles tandem of Matthis Ross and Giulio Perego highlighted the Aggies' first day at the Big 12-SEC Challenge on Friday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
 
Ross and Perego, playing together for the first time this season, tallied a hard-fought 8-7 (4) win over Roi Ginat/Mikel Anderson of Arizona State.
 
In singles play, the four Aggies faced four players from Baylor. Ross went down against Oskar Brostrom Poulsen, 6-3, 6-4.
 
No. 93 ranked Perego battled it out on the court against No. 49 ranked Zsombor Velcz, but came up short, 7-5, 6-2.
 
Sophomore Ethan Silva fell to Quintan Van Wijk, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.
 
Redshirt freshman Ritesh Patil came up short against Louis Bowden, 7-5, 6-4.
 
The doubles duo of Silva/Patil fought hard against Nicola Cigna/Daniel Phillips of Arizona State, ultimately falling 8-6.
 
The Challenge continues tomorrow, Oct. 5 with doubles matches against Texas Tech and singles against Arizona.
