AUBURN – The Texas A&M volleyball team heads out on its first conference road match of the season as it faces the Tigers Sunday in Neville Arena with first serve set for 2 p.m.
The Aggies are coming off their first conference victory of the season after outlasting Missouri in their first reverse-sweep victory since the 2015 season. A&M dropped the first two frames of the match and found itself trailing late in the third (22-16), however a late 9-1 rally in the frame stole the momentum as the Maroon & White carried it all the way to the win.
Hitting the road, A&M faces Auburn who hold a 13-1 record on the year and are carrying a seven-match win streak into the matchup. The Tigers are 9-0 at home this season, including three-straight at Neville Arena to open league play.
The Maroon & White have faced Auburn 19 times in their history and dominate the all-time series 14-5. The Tigers have won the previous-three fixtures, with the most recent being a five-set victory last season in Reed Arena.
Entering the fixture with Auburn, the Aggies rank among the leaders in the country in a variety of statistical categories, including sixth in assists per set (13.39), 13th in kills per set (14.16), 19th in hitting percentage (.275) and 32nd in blocks per set (2.64). For the Tigers, they excel as a team on defense ranking sixth in digs per set (17.78) and eighth in blocks per set (2.97)
