Montojo Headed to the Spirit International Championship

The Texas A&M men's golf standout will represent Spain at The Spirit contested at nearby Whispering Pines Golf Club.

TRINITY, Texas – Texas A&M men's golf standout Jaime Montojo will represent Spain at the 11th edition of the Spirit International Championship from Thursday-Saturday at Whispering Pines Golf Club.

The biennial event features 80 of the world's best men and women amateur golfers representing 20 countries and six continents. Located 80 miles north of Houston, Whispering Pines is situated on a spectacular 400-acre property featuring piney woods, creeks, lakes, natural dunes and abundant wildlife.

Action starts each morning with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. The teams play a 54-hole four-ball stroke play competition with concurrent team competition categories – international team, men's team, women's team.

The event marks another highlight in a stellar year for the Madrid native. He scored his first collegiate win at the Aggie Invitational in April and competed in the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon in July.

Montojo is the third Texas A&M men's golfer to play in the tournament. Sam Bennett captured individual honors at the event in 2021 and Andrea Pavan represented Italy in 2005.
