Aggies Add Applegate to 2025 Class
Nov 14, 2024 | Volleyball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M volleyball team added libero/defensive specialist Addi Applegate to the 2025 signing class, head coach Jamie Morrison announced Thursday.
Joining the Aggies from Yorktown, Indiana, Applegate is the lone signee from outside of Texas and brings defensive prowess to the Brazos Valley. The defensive specialist made her mark at her high school, as she became Yorktown's all-time leader in career digs, surpassing 2,000 in her four year career and concluding her time with 2,015. Leaving a legacy, Applegate helped lead her team to a runner-up finish at the Indiana High School State Championship.
"I think the first thing that stood out about Addi is her consistency," coach Morrison said. "I like to watch an entire match to see what every touch looks like. I vividly remember watching three high school matches and seeing quality touch after quality touch. She is one of the best serve receive liberos in the class. She has the ability to take a hard driven ball and not only dig it but put it in a good place for her setter to run the offense in rhythm. What stands out as you watch more is a steadiness as a competitor and teammate. I've seen her be big in some of the biggest moments and I've seen her care deeply about her teammates and friends. She is going to make a great Aggie."
Applegate has seen plenty of success throughout her club volleyball career representing Munciana, as she helped lead the team to the Junior Volleyball Association national title. Thanks to her outstanding performances, she was named a Prep Volleyball All-American and a JVA All-American.
Taking her game to the next level, Applegate was selected with the country's best to be a part of the USA National Team Development Program. With her selection, she was given the opportunity to train with the elite in her age group from around the United States in 2022.
