Nov 15, 2024 | Volleyball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M volleyball team inked the No. 7 recruiting class in the country according to Prep Volleyball after signing four prospects in the 2025 class.
"This is an amazing day for Texas A&M volleyball," head coach Jamie Morrison said. "When we set out to bring this recruiting class, we had 4 goals; the first was recruit good humans that will represent the values of Texas A&M, secondly recruit athletes, third recruit people that can learn and finally recruit people that want to achieve something great.
"Each and every person in this recruiting class epitomizes these 4 characteristics. They are amazing human beings that all Aggies will be proud to cheer on. They are exciting athletes that will entertain crowds for years to come. They all have experience with the USA National Team Development Program and want to achieve great things in Aggieland and beyond. They all love this amazing game and want to see how great they can become."
The class features setter Kirra Musgrove, libero/defensive specialist Addi Applegate and pins Taryn Morris and Megan Fitch. All four have played high school and club volleyball at the highest levels and made their mark on the international stage with the USA NTDP.
Kirra Musgrove – Setter
Tabbed as the No. 24 ranked overall recruit in the 2025 class, Musgrove has been a standout throughout her high school and club career, garnering a plethora of honors including being named a Prep Volleyball All-American, District MVP and Varsity Team MVP. While at Lutheran South Academy, she was named to the 5A State Championship All-Tournament Team in back-to-back years and was awarded 2023 VYPE Private School Setter of the Year.
Hailing from Houston, Musgrove brings a wealth of experience and versatility to Aggieland. She joins the team as a designated setter, however she makes her presence felt around the court, as she amassed 2,030 assists, 1,854 kills and 1,271 digs throughout her four-year high school career. She was selected to the U19 Women's National Team training roster in 2024 and has been involved with the USA National Team Development Program since 2021.
"Kirra [Musgrove] is first and foremost one of the best setters in the class," Morrison said. "She has great touch as a setter and experience running a fast offense that will fit what we are trying to do in Aggieland. She is also a physical athlete that can play the opposite position if needed and adds a presence at the net as a blocker regardless of what position she is playing. She has played up a year at the club level for the past 2 seasons and brings a wealth of USA and club experience to Texas A&M. With that comes poise in big moments and an ability to control the court. We can't wait to get her to College Station."
Taryn Morris – Outside/Opposite Hitter
Joining the Maroon & White from Little Elm, Texas, Morris provides the Aggies a range of options thanks to her world-class arm and ability to play both outside and opposite. Standing out across the country, Morris was noticed as one of the nation's best as she was named a Prep Volleyball All-American.
Taking her talents to the national stage, Morris' performances earned her a spot on the USA National Team Development Program where she trained among the country's best. Her first involvement with the program came back in 2022 and she has since continued to impress staying involved with the national team for the past two years.
"Taryn [Morris] has the potential to play on either pin as an opposite or outside," Morrison said. "She is a rarity in the junior's world in that she plays six rotations as an opposite. With that comes just about every tool you can have. She plays good defense, has a good serve, and plays an all-around game. However, what makes her stick out is her arm and range. She hits a heavy ball and has the ability to move it around all over the court. What you learn as you get to know her more is a sense of joy and love of learning. She can take coaching and immediately make change, something we value a lot here. We can't wait to get her to Aggieland."
Addi Applegate – Libero/Defensive Specialist
Hailing from Yorktown, Indiana, Applegate is the lone signee from outside of Texas and brings defensive prowess to the Brazos Valley. The defensive specialist made her mark at her high school, as she became Yorktown's all-time leader in career digs, surpassing 2,000 in her four year career and concluding her time with 2,015. Leaving a legacy, Applegate helped lead her team to a runner-up finish at the Indiana High School State Championship.
Applegate has seen plenty of success throughout her club volleyball career representing Munciana, as she helped lead the team to the Junior Volleyball Association national title. Thanks to her outstanding performances, she was named a Prep Volleyball All-American and a JVA All-American.
"I think the first thing that stood out about Addi [Applegate] is her consistency," coach Morrison said. "I like to watch an entire match to see what every touch looks like. I vividly remember watching three high school matches and seeing quality touch after quality touch. She is one of the best serve receive liberos in the class. She has the ability to take a hard driven ball and not only dig it but put it in a good place for her setter to run the offense in rhythm. What stands out as you watch more is a steadiness as a competitor and teammate. I've seen her be big in some of the biggest moments and I've seen her care deeply about her teammates and friends. She is going to make a great Aggie."
Megan Fitch – Outside Hitter
Joining A&M from San Antonio, Fitch has a proven arm in the state of Texas with over 1,000 kills during her high school career representing Cornerstone Christian. She was named a Max Preps All-American and was added to their High School Volleyball Player of the Year Watchlist. Garnering attention from around the volleyball community, Fitch is ranked as the No. 4 player and No. 3 outside hitter in the state of Texas by Prep Dig.
The 6'2" outside stood out on the club level, where she played for the Alamo Volleyball Association. During her time with the team, she helped lead the club to the 2022 USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship 15 Open title and was also named MVP of the championships. Her standout outings earned her an invitation to the Under Armor Next Camp Series In 2022, 2023 and 2024.
"We value the ability to play the entire game in this program and Megan [Fitch] epitomizes that," Morrison said. "She has a pure platform and can pass the ball as well as most college upperclassmen. I vividly remember matches where she took the hardest attack in the gym and dug it perfectly over and over again. There are other players in the class that bring that ball control but what makes her stand out is her ability to do it at her size. She brings height to the outside hitter position and athleticism that will be fun to watch for years. What fans will notice right away is the joy she plays this game with. It is infectious and spreads to both her teammates and fans alike. You will love watching her play the game and getting to know her."
