Match Preview: vs. Georgia

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M volleyball team returns to Reed Arena Friday night as it hosts Georgia with first serve set for 6:30 p.m.
Both the Aggies and Bulldogs play their 14th conference match of the season Friday. A&M holds fifth in the league standings with a 7-6 record and enters the fixture following a win at Oklahoma, while the Bulldogs are 12th in the SEC at 4-9 and are coming off a loss to Kentucky.
The Maroon & White face a stout Georgia defense at the net, as it ranks third during conference play in blocks per set (2.44). The Aggies also ranks among the top defensive teams in the league in coverage, as they hold opponents to a .203 hitting percentage which is good for third in the SEC.
The programs have faced off on 28 occasions, with A&M boasting a dominant lead in the all-time series 20-8. Georgia however has had the better of the matchup in the last two years, claiming three straight including a sweep in Reed Arena last season. Historically, the Aggies are strong playing in front of the 12th Man, holding a 9-3 record.
Last time out, A&M snapped its three-match slide with a dominant straight-set victory versus Oklahoma. The Maroon & White's efficiency was the difference in the match, as they recorded 42 kills on 81 swings with only six errors, resulting in a .444 hitting percentage which is their highest as a group this season.
Maddie Waak was named SEC Setter of the week for the second time this season after spearheading the teams' dominant offensive showing versus the Sooners. The Katy, Texas, native dished 32 assists in the win, leading the team to its impressive efficiency.
Logan Lednicky has the Aggies on history watch, as she sits 13 kills away from ranking top-15 all-time for the program in career kills. The junior has logged 375 kills on the year so far, and has crossed the double-digit mark in 22 out of 23 matches this season.
