COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Texas A&M volleyball team concludes its regular-season slate on the road as it faces the Gamecocks Saturday in the Carolina Volleyball Center with first serve set for 12 p.m.
Closing the 2024 regular-season conference campaign on the road, the fifth-ranked Aggies (9-6) take on eighth ranked South Carolina (7-8). Both programs carry wins into the fixture, with the Maroon & White on a three-match streak, while the Gamecocks claimed a 3-2 victory over Florida Wednesday.
A&M enters the Carolina Volleyball Center looking to reach double-digit wins in league play for the first time since 2019, however South Carolina excel on their home court with a 10-4 record. The Aggies bring their stout defense on the road, as they rank third in the SEC in opponent hitting percentage (.190) and fourth in blocks per set (2.47).
The teams have met 20 times in their history, with the Maroon & White dominating the all-time series, 17-3. A&M has won the previous-seven matchups, including a sweep last season when the teams met in Reed Arena. When playing on the road, the Aggies are 9-2 and secured victory in their last four visits to Columbia.
Last time out, the Aggies capped off seniors Molly Brown and Ellee Stinson's home finale with a resounding 3-1 victory over LSU to claim their third-straight win. Stuffing the stat sheet was common among multiple team members today, as Ifenna Cos-Okpalla recorded her first career double-double with a career high 13 kills and 10 blocks. Logan Lednicky and Maddie Waak also registered double-doubles, as Lednicky had 16 kills and 11 digs, while Waak logged 44 assists and 11 digs.
