Mireles, Boyer Advance to Flight Semifinals

HOUSTON – No. 88 Jeanette Mireles and Lizanne Boyer claimed singles victories Friday to advance to the semifinals in their flights at the Rice Invitational at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
No. 88 Mireles faced Houston's Valeriia Krokhotina in the flight 1 draw, defeating the Cougar in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) to claim her sixth win of the season and fifth in a row. Boyer picked up her third-straight victory in flight 3 versus Houston's Sophie Schouten, winning in straight sets (7-5, 6-4).
Paired in doubles, the Aggies fell to Oklahoma's Cara Mester/Emma Ghiradato, 6-3.
In singles, Mireles faces Iowa State's Ashlee Narker, while Boyer takes on Rice's Nithesa Selvaraj. The pair battles Texas Tech's Elena Daskalova/Arina Oreshchenkova in the flight 1 doubles semifinals.
