Former Aggie standout claims victory at Nedbank Golf Challenge.
SUN CITY, South Africa – Former Texas A&M golfer Johannes Veerman was victorious in the opening event of the 2025 DP World Tour campaign, winning the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
He tamed the par-72, 7,151-yard Gary Player Country Club with a 3-under 69 in Sunday's final round at what is regarded as Africa's Major. The last loop put him at 5-under 283 for the tournament and the victory was secured when Aldrich Potgeiter bogeyed the final hole to finish one stroke back tied with two other golfers.
It marked Veerman's second win on the DP World Tour, the first coming at the 2021 Czech Masters. He also won the Taifong Open in the Asian Development Tour in 2016.
Veerman played three seasons at Texas A&M after transferring from Tulsa. He was a PING All-Region selection as a sophomore, recording four top-10 finishes. As a junior, he played in all 14 tournaments for the Aggies, notching five top-20 finishes and one top-five.
The DP World Tour, formerly confined to the leading men's professional tour in Europe, has gone global with events in Africa, Asia, Australia and North America in addition to its home continent. The 2025 campaign includes 42 Race to Dubai events across 26 countries over 12 months. It closes out with next year's Abu Dhabi Championship deciding the 50 players to advance to the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
