AUBURN – The No. 11 Texas A&M women's swimming & diving team is set to travel to Auburn for the 2024 SEC Championships at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center, which runs from Feb. 19-24. A full schedule with start times and events can be found below.
The Aggies have held a steady rank at No. 11 for the majority of the season and registered a 10-1 record in dual meets this season, along with a first-place finish in the annual Art Adamson Invite. Additionally, seven different Aggies have claimed top-30 times in the country in nine different events this season.
Chloe Stepanek has been dominant all season for the Maroon & White, holding team-best times in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free. Last year at the SEC Championships, Stepanek medaled for the third time in her career in the 200 free, earning All-SEC Second Team honors. The senior holds the 14th-fastest time in the nation in the 200 free (1:43.98), which also ranks fourth among SEC swimmers this season. Additionally, Stepanek holds the No. 20 time nationally in the 100 free (48.03).
In her senior campaign, Abby Grottle registered personal-best times in the 500 free (4:41.58) and 1650 free (16:50.55), which rank among the top-30 in the country. Grottle also lowered her personal-best time in the 400 IM with a 4:17.79. Fellow distance swimmer Hayden Miller holds the 17th-fastest time in the country in the 1650 free, clocking a 16:08.79. Last year at the SEC Championships Miller set her personal-best time in the 1650 free with a 15:59.21 as a member of the Florida Gators.
Senior Olivia Theall boasts top-25 times in the 100 fly (51.96) and the 200 fly (1:55.15), and has been a reliable scorer at the championship meet throughout her career. In addition to Stepanek, Giulia Goerigk also made a trip to the podium a year ago, earning a bronze in the 400 IM with a 4:06.84 at her first SEC Championships meet. The sophomore currently holds the 14th-fastest time nationally in the 400 IM with a 4:07.91.
Freshman Miranda Grana has been impressive, leading the team with a pair of top-16 times in the nation in the 100 back (51.73) and 200 back (1:53.30). Grana, Stepanek and Theall, along with senior Bobbi Kennett hold an NCAA A cut time in the 400 medley relay at 3:30.31.
Joslyn Oakley has led the way for Aggie divers all season, notching four SEC Women's Diver of the Week awards, and has set personal best scores on both springboards. In the TCU dual meet, Oakley swept the springboards with new personal-high scores of 337.15 on the 1-meter and 395.80 on the 3-meter. Last season, Oakley was honored as the SEC Freshman Diver of the Year. Mayson Richards and Payton Props will join Oakley at the SEC Championships and have already qualified for Zones on both springboards.
