
Elvira Finishes Runner-up at Kenya Open

NAIROBI, Kenya – Former Texas A&M men's golf standout Nacho Elvira finished runner-up at the DP World Tour's Magical Kenya Open.
Elvira tallied a 12-under 272 at the par-71, 7,228-yard Muthaiga Golf Club to finish two strokes off the pace of medalist Darius van Driel of Netherlands. The Santander, Spain native was one of three golfers to fire under 70 all four rounds (69-69-68-66). He moved up four spots on the leaderboard the final day.
This year Elvira has three top 20 finishes, including a tie for 13th two weeks ago at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters. He moved up to 22nd on the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai Rankings.
The finish marked Elvira's fifth runner-up showing on the circuit. He won his first trophy on the tour in 2021 at the Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale. He also earned four wins on the Challenge Tour, including three in 2015.
Elvira was a two-time All-America at Texas A&M. His senior campaign earned All-Big 12 and all-region on the back of eight top 20 finishes and two top 5 showings en route to a 72.29 stroke average. He capped off his Aggie career with an appearance in the prestigious Palmer Cup.
