BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M volleyball team caps off its spring semester with a foreign tour to Europe May 25-June 5 where the program will visit Turkey, Croatia and Italy to play five matches.
"We are thrilled to embark on this incredible journey to Europe where we will not only compete against international athletes, but also immerse ourselves in the rich culture that these countries have to offer," head coach Jamie Morrison said. "This trip serves as an amazing opportunity for our Texas A&M volleyball team to witness firsthand the pathways to professional volleyball, as we visit Turkey, Croatia and Italy."
The foreign tour will allow the complete squad, which includes those joining in the 2024 class, to practice and compete with one another prior to the start of the fall campaign. While traveling to Europe the program will play five matches across the trio of countries, with two taking place in Turkey and Italy and one being played in Croatia.
"I want this program to be a pathway for those athletes that want to go on and play professionally," Morrison added. "I can't wait to show our athletes what that looks like as well as push the boundaries of what we are comfortable with and learn about different cultures around the world."
Texas A&M's most recent graduate Caroline Meuth just made the jump to the professional game in Europe, as she signed her first contract with Volley Düdingen Power Cats in Switzerland.
College teams are permitted to make international trips every four years. Most recently, the Aggies toured Europe in the summer of 2018. The team played six matches in five different countries while on the tour.
