
Smith Signs with Icelandic Professional Squad

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Texas A&M soccer standout Sammy Smith inked a deal with Icelandic club FHL (Fjardabyggd / Höttur / Leiknir), her management group announced Friday.
Smith spent the 2023 season with Texas A&M after four years at Boston College. The Hanson, Massachusetts, native played in all 22 games last year, including eight starts. She ranked third on the club with 13 points on three goals and a team-high seven assists. In SEC play, Smith scored the lone goal in A&M's 1-0 victory over Mississippi State and added three assists.
Based in Reyðarfjörður, the squad competes in Lengjudeild kvenna battling for a spot in the top tier in Iceland.
Previous Aggies to play professionally in Iceland include Asdis Hallsdodottir, now with Norwegian side LSK Kvinner, and Taylor Ziemer, now with Dutch club FC Twente.
Smith is completing her master's degree in entrepreneurial leadership at Texas A&M after graduating from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. She added SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll to her four times landing a spot on the ACC Academic Honor Roll. Smith also landed College Sports Communicators Academic All-District recognition.
