Mar 30, 2024 | Men's Swimming and Diving
INDIANAPOLIS – Texas A&M's Trey Dickey and Connor Foote lowered school records and four individuals earned All-America honors on the final night NCAA Championships Saturday at the Indiana University Natatorium. The Aggies finished 16th with 81 points, tallying 21 All-America honors and lowering five school records.
For the second time this season, Dickey took down a pair of school records in one race as he clocked a 1000 free split of 8:57.62 on his way to lowering the 1650 free mark with a time of 14:46.70. He earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades for the first time in his career and became the first Aggie in school history to score in the 1650 free at NCAAs.
Foote impressed in prelims claiming his third individual program record after clocking a 41.60 in the morning session of the 100 free. He registered another lifetime best in the final, going 41.49 to take 12th and earn his second individual Honorable Mention All-America accolade of the week.
Alex Sanchez posted his highest finish at NCAA Championships, adding 10th-place points for the Aggies in the 200 breast with a time of 1:51.32.
Rhett Hensley picked up the second Honorable Mention All-America award of his career on platform, placing 13th overall in the final with a score of 349.90.

Post Meet Quotes
Head coach Jay Holmes on the team's performance …
"The NCAA meet is always a great meet. This one was no different, everything you get you have to fight really hard for. This meet continues to get faster every year. We competed really well in each of the finals we qualified for. In most every final swim or board we were in at night, we moved up in points. What we didn't get done well enough to make a better run in the team race was our relays. We were scoring lower consolation points, but that's not enough.
"The five school records this week were fun. Baylor [Nelson] finally getting his and breaking our 400 IM record is well deserved. He has worked so hard and earned it. Connor [Foote's] school record in the 50 free was already his, but he was able to break his own record again. We have been hoping for him to do it in the 100, but he wasn't seeded to score here. His got it done in his morning swim and then him going faster at night was one of our surprises of the meet. Trey [Dickey] being the first guy to race the mile for us in such a long time was good, it's about time we had a miler here, but then to score points was another great surprise for us.
"In diving, both of our guys who scored barely made the cut to get into the finals, but they did get in and they both moved up. Victor [Povzner] has been one of our consistent NCAA scorers during his time here and Rhett [Hensley] scoring again in platform was gratifying. Especially seeing him fight so hard in the consolation round at night."
