No. 4 Aggies Prepare for Pair of Midweeks

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 4 Texas A&M baseball team will look to remain unbeaten as they prepare for a pair of midweek contests starting with rival No. 14/24 Texas (7-4) Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin at 6:30 p.m. Following the contest, the Aggies face a quick turnaround as they host Texas Southern (4-9) Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Maroon & White are off to an 11-0 start for the first time since 2015 and the ninth time in program history.
Tuesday's contest will be broadcast on Longhorn Network and can be heard locally on SportsRadio 1150 AM/93.7 The Zone. No stream will be available for Wednesday's game but fans can still listen to the game locally on SportsRadio 1150 AM/93.7 The Zone. The Aggies and Longhorns meet for the 376th time in their historic rivalry Tuesday night. The Maroon & White have won four of the last five meetings in the series, including the last two in Austin.
Wednesday's contest marks the 17th meeting all-time between the Aggies and Tigers. Texas A&M is a perfect 16-0 all-time in the series, including 15-0 at home.
Ol' Sarges' charges continue to be a consensus Top 10 team among the national polls, ranking as high as No. 4 in Perfect Game's Top 25. On Monday, Texas A&M moved to No. 6 in both the USA Today Coaches and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association polls.
Braden Montgomery and Jace LaViolette have been one of the best duos in all of college baseball throughout the first 11 games, combining for 11 home runs and 42 RBI. The duo's 42 RBI mark the second most among a pair of teammates nationally. The two are also tied for fifth among Division I with 21 RBI apiece.
Texas A&M's stable of arms continues to "Dominate the Zone" under new pitching coach Max Weiner, striking out 124 batters to only 25 walks in 93 innings. Among the national rankings, the Maroon & White rank first in ERA (1.45), first in shutouts (4), second in WHIP (0.91), second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.96), third in walks allowed per nine innings (2.42), fourth in hits allowed per nine innings (5.81) and 11th in strikeouts per nine innings (12.0).
The staff's four shutouts through the first 11 games are the most since 2016.
On the opposite end, Ol' Sarges' charges rank third in walks (91), fourth in on-base percentage (.476), ninth in scoring (10.5), ninth in slugging percentage (.608), 14th in batting average (.336), 15th in runs scored (116), 15th in home runs per game (2.00), 16th in home runs (22) and 16th in triples (5).
