No. 1 Aggies Power Past No. 17 Georgia, 5-2

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 1 Texas A&M baseball team (37-5, 14-5) clubbed four home runs en route to a 5-2 win in the series opener over No. 17 Georgia (30-11, 9-10) Friday night in front of a crowd of 7,968 at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
Left-hander Ryan Prager improved to 8-0 on the year after delivering six innings of two-run baseball to go along with six strikeouts. The quality start marked the sixth of the year for the redshirt sophomore. In relief, Evan Aschenbeck picked up his seventh save of the season after tossing 2.2 scoreless frames and striking out three Bulldogs.
Ted Burton led the charge offensively as the senior went 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and two RBI. The multi-homer night marked the first of Burton's career in the Maroon & White. Gavin Grahovac and Jackson Appel also homered in the win for the Aggies.
After Georgia struck first in the opening frame with a solo homer, Burton delivered the response in the second with a solo shot of his own to left. In the fourth, the Texas A&M first baseman broke the tie with his second solo blast of the night that traveled 440 feet to left center. The two homers upped Burton's season total to six.
Georgia answered in the fifth with the fourth solo homer of the night to even the score at 2-2.
The Maroon & White jumped back in front, 4-2, in the sixth behind a two-run laser off the bat of Appel. The senior's eighth homer of the year traveled 405 feet over the wall in left center and had an exit velocity of 108 mph.
Grahovac added insurance in the seventh as the freshman ripped an opposite field solo homer into Section 12 in right. The long ball marked the 16th of the year for the rookie.
In the ninth, Aschenbeck retired the side in order to seal the 5-2 victory.
