No. 3 Aggies Defeat No. 22 South Carolina, 6-3, Clinch Series

COLUMBIA – The No. 3 Texas A&M baseball team (28-3) registered its eighth consecutive win and first road series of the year with a 6-3 victory over No. 22 South Carolina (21-10) Saturday afternoon from Founders Park.
Shane Sdao picked up the win in relief after tossing 4.1 scoreless frames to go along with three strikeouts. The scoreless outing marked the seventh of the year for the sophomore. Evan Aschenbeck logged his fourth save of the year after strike out six over two innings of one-run baseball.
Braden Montgomery (2-for-3) and Jace LaViolette (2-for-4) recorded multi-hit performances for the Aggies, while Hayden Schott drove in three runs for the second straight game. Schott has now plated eight RBI in the last three contests.
Gavin Grahovac opened the scoring with a 406-foot solo home run to dead center to leadoff the contest. The long ball marked the freshman's second of the series and 11th of the year. Later in the opening frame, Schott stretched the advantage to 3-0 with a two-run, two-out single to left center.
In the bottom half of the first, the Gamecocks looked to respond as Parker Noland drove a ball deep into the left center gap but freshman Caden Sorrell made an incredible leaping catch at the wall to take away a homer.
The Aggies tacked on a run in the third as LaViolette, who reached on a leadoff walk, came home on an RBI groundout from Ted Burton.
South Carolina broke through on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the third with a pair of runs to trim the lead to 4-2.
Schott got a run back for the Maroon & White in the fifth as the senior plated Jackson Appel, who reached on catcher's interference, with an RBI groundout.
After the Gamecocks cut into the lead with a solo homer in the eighth, the Aggies got the run back in the ninth courtesy of an RBI single from Appel.
