Aug 03, 2024 | Track and Field
PARIS – Three Texas A&M all-time greats won Olympic medals on the third day of track & field action at the 2024 Games, as Bryce Deadmon and Shamier Little secured silver in the mixed 4x400m relay while Lindon Victor claimed bronze in the men's decathlon Saturday at the Stade de France.
Following up from their world-record breaking performance in the prelims of the mixed 4x400m relay, Deadmon and Little carried their momentum into the finals as they claimed the silver medal for the United States. The team crossed the line in 3:07.74, narrowly finishing behind the Netherlands who took the gold. This marks Deadmon's third Olympic medal, as he completed his collection having won gold and bronze in Tokyo, while Little won her first medal in her Olympic debut.
Victor added the third medal of the day for the Maroon & White, as he became Grenada's second-ever Olympic medal winner after claiming bronze in the men's decathlon. Victor battled through two days of competition, picking up an Olympic decathlon record in the discus with a mark of 53.91m/176-10 and another six season-best showings across the 10 events. He joined Kirani James as Grenada's only Olympic medalists and secured the country's fourth-straight Games with a medal, as James won a medal in London, Rio and Tokyo.
Fred Kerley also got his Olympics started, as he won his heat of the men's 100m first round and advanced to the semifinals tied for the top qualifier spot with a time of 9.97.
Jacob Wooten concluded his debut Games, finishing 22nd in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 5.60m/18-4.5.
