Aggies Open Fall Campaign at H-E-B Invitational

WACO – Texas A&M women's tennis begins its fall campaign with a trip to the H-E-B Invitational at the Hurd Tennis Center Friday to Sunday. The tournament field features players from Arizona, Baylor, Colorado, Houston, Illinois, Nebraska, Rice, SMU and UTSA.
Three Aggies will make the trip to Baylor's campus, highlighted by two returners, Daria Smetannikov and Lizanne Boyer. Smetannikov finished the 2023-24 season with a 17-12 singles record, including five conference victories and a 7-9 doubles record. Boyer ended last year on a six-match singles winning streak, finishing with a record of 8-2 in singles and 7-2 in doubles.
Additionally, freshman Lexington Reed rounds out the lineup to make her debut for the Maroon & White. The Orlando, Florida, native was a 5-star blue chip prospect, ranked as the No. 8 recruit in the nation. She holds a 6-1 record when playing against fellow 5-star and blue chip players and earned a pair of 15k doubles titles throughout her junior campaign.
Matches begin at 9 a.m. Friday in the doubles competition, with singles matches to follow. Smetannikov and Reed face Illinois's Violeta Martinez and Kida Ferrari. In the singles competition, Smetannikov takes on Rice's Darya Schwartzman and Reed will compete against UTSA's Vittoria Baccino, both set for 12:30 p.m. Boyer will begin her season versus Rice's Nithesa Selvaraj at 2:00 p.m.
