
Aggies Slotted No. 13 in Golf Channel Preseason Ranking

A&M kicks off season Saturday at Sahalee Players Championship
STAMFORD, Conn. – The Texas A&M men's golf team earned the No. 13 spot in the preseason top 25 released by Golf Channel Wednesday afternoon.
Previously, the Maroon & White were slotted No. 19 in the Bushnell/Golfweek Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Aggies, who finished 20th at last season's NCAA Championships return seven letterwinners headlined by Phichaksn Maichon who earned PING Division I All-America Third Team status and starts the season No. 10 in the PGA TOUR University ranking. Fellow seniors Michael Heidelbaugh and Vishnu Sadagopan are joined by juniors Dallas Hankamer and Jaime Montojo; and sophomores Jake Maggert, Aaron Pounds and Jack Usner.
The Maroon & White also welcome in a star-studded group of newcomers including transfer Jacob Sosa and freshmen Wheaton Ennis and Alex Long.
The SEC is once again predicted to be the top power with 10 teams in the preseason top 25. Auburn topped the opening ranking followed by Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Virginia in the top five.
The Aggies head to the Pacific Northwest to open the season Sept. 7-8 at the Sahalee Players Championship in the suburbs of Seattle.
