Aggie Duo Claims SEC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM – The Texas A&M men's golf team swept the weekly conference awards with Phichaksn Maichon and Wheaton Ennis earning acclaim Thursday.
 
Rewarded for their efforts at the Sea Best Invitational, Maichon was tabbed SEC Golfer of the Week while Ennis secured SEC Freshman of the Week.
 
Maichon earned his third career collegiate win with a victory at Atlantic Beach Country Club. He fired an 11-under 202 at the tournament to win by two strokes. He was the only golfer to shoot in the 60s all three rounds, carding scores of 66, 67 and 69.
 
Ennis helped Texas A&M win back-to-back tournament trophies for the first time since January 2020, finishing in sixth place at Sea Best. He posted a 5-under 208, sinking 13 birdies and recording an eagle on his final hole. He fired rounds of 69, 68, 71.
 
Maichon claimed SEC Golfer of the Week for the third time in his career. Ennis earned his second SEC Freshman of the Week recognition.
 
Texas A&M returns to action next week when they travel to Kuau'i, Hawaii for the John A. Burns Intercollegiate.
