Henseler, LaViolette Named to Bobby Bragan Award Watch List

Wyatt Henseler and Jace LaViolette of the Texas A&M baseball team have been named to the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award (BBNCSA) Watch List, as announced by the organization Friday afternoon.

FORT WORTH – Wyatt Henseler and Jace LaViolette of the Texas A&M baseball team have been named to the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award (BBNCSA) Watch List, as announced by the organization Friday afternoon.

LaViolette, who was named to the watch list a season ago, belted 29 homers, plated 78 runs, scored 87 times and batted .305 during an All-America campaign in 2024. The Katy, Texas, native's 29 homers upped his career total to 50, which ranks second in school history. LaViolette also added three triples, 16 doubles and a program-best 64 walks during his impressive 2024 season.

Throughout the preseason, the junior was named a unanimous All-American and the National Player of the Year by Baseball America and Perfect Game. LaViolette also garnered a spot on the Preseason All-SEC First Team and the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List.

Henseler, a transfer from Penn, started all 49 games for the Quakers in 2024 and led the squad with a .360 average to go along with a .465 on-base percentage and a .755 slugging percentage. The senior set an Ivy League record with 22 homers and also drove in 56 runs en route to being named the unanimous Ivy League Player of the Year.

Entering his first season in Aggieland, Henseler has been named a preseason Second Team All-American by D1Baseball and the NCBWA. The senior, who also earned a spot on the Preseason All-SEC Second Team is making his first appearance on the BBNCSA Watch List.

The award, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in the country. The BBNCSA is based on performance at the plate, academics, and personal integrity.

The BBNCSA originally started out in 2017 as an honor going to the top college hitter in Texas. In 2019, the BBNCSA expanded, becoming a regional award covering Division I programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. The BBNCSA became a national award in 2020; however, no winner was announced due to the Covid-19 virus which cut the 2020 college baseball season short.

The winner of the BBNCSA will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club.

The Aggies are set to open their 2025 campaign against Elon tonight at 6 p.m. from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
