Richards Places Sixth on 1-Meter to Begin SEC Championships

ATHENS – Mayson Richards and the Texas A&M women's diving squad got competition underway at SEC Swimming & Diving Championships Monday at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. In the lone event of the day, Richards led the way with her highest finish on the 1-meter at the championship meet.

ATHENS – Mayson Richards and the Texas A&M women's diving squad got competition underway at SEC Swimming & Diving Championships Monday at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. In the lone event of the day, Richards led the way with her highest finish on the 1-meter at the championship meet.

After placing seventh in prelims with a score of 274.40, Richards moved up to sixth in the final, posting a score of 284.85. The Keller, Texas, native advanced to the 1-meter A-final for the first time in her career and made her second career finals appearance at SEC Championships.

Else Praasterink, Bridget Foster and Julie Moons made their SEC Championships debuts for the Maroon & White , all notching top-25 scores on the 1-meter. Praasterink took 20^th with a score of 251.90 in prelims, while Foster placed 21^st (249.75) and Moons took 24^th (243.85).
