TUSCALOOSA – The Texas A&M women's basketball team fell to the No. 18 Alabama Crimson Tide 88-49 inside Coleman Coliseum Monday night.
Jada Malone led the Maroon & White (10-14, 3-9 SEC) in scoring with 17 points. It marked her eighth double-digit scoring output this season.
The Aggies jumped out to a 6-4 lead in the early part of the first quarter, but Alabama (21-5, 8-4 SEC) went on a 23-2 run sparked by a ¾ court trap that forced five turnovers, and the Crimson Tide caught fire on offense, going 5-of-7 from deep. Texas A&M faced a 27-8 disadvantage after one and eventually a 46-16-hole heading into the locker room.
Texas A&M came out stronger in the third frame with Malone scoring nine points in the quarter on 4-of-5 shooting. However, the Crimson Tide continued to extend its lead with a 73-33 count after 30 minutes.
The fourth quarter went in favor of Texas A&M, but the game finished with a final score of 88-49.
The Aggies return to the court Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. against Florida inside Reed Arena.
