Texas A&M men's tennis head coach Steve Denton announced former UTSA standout Alan Magadan has joined the roster for the upcoming spring.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M men's tennis head coach Steve Denton announced former UTSA standout Alan Magadan has joined the roster for the upcoming spring.

"I'm excited to officially join the team and be part of such a great program," Magadan said. "This opportunity will be great for my professional career, and I'm glad to be part of this family. I can't wait to compete alongside my teammates and continue growing as a player. Gig 'em!"

The 6-foot-1 McAllen native played his first year at Tyler Junior College and helped the Hawks earn a NJCAA National Championship. He ranked as high as No. 25 in singles and No. 8 in doubles and earned All-America honors after winning NJCAA titles at flight four singles and flight two doubles.

In his two seasons at UTSA, he accumulated 23-12 overall singles and 23-14 doubles record. In 2022, he partnered with UTSA teammate Sebastian Rodriguez to win the ITA Texas Regional doubles title, beating three ranked tandems from Texas A&M, Baylor and TCU enroute to the championship. Last season, he posted doubles wins in dual match play against tandems from Texas, Oklahoma and Oregon.

"I'm very excited of the news that Alan has officially joined us and will be competing for the Aggies this spring," Denton said. "Thanks to our staff for working so hard to make this happen. Alan brings a lot of experience in singles and doubles and will make an immediate impact on our team."

Magadan was ranked as high as No. 120 in the world as a junior and was Mexico's top junior player from 2017-19. Competing for head coach Kareem Abdullah at McAllen Memorial High School, Magadan won the state title in doubles.
