BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M's Sahara Jones was named to the 2025 SEC Women's Basketball Community Service Team, the league announced Wednesday.
Â
In its 27th year, the community service team is named in an effort by the league to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition. This marks the second community service selection for Jones in her five-year career. Her first came during the 2021-22 campaign.
Â
Jones has been a pillar in the Bryan-College Station community. Her efforts have helped children and adults in the Brazos Valley during events such as the Boys and Girls Club Basketball Camp and Brazos Valley Foodbank.
Â
Additionally, during the holiday season she helped provide over 150 bikes and helmets to the children of Aggieland during the team's annual Bike Build event. The San Antonio native also went to the Walk to End Alzheimer to go cheer on and support the participants as they raised money for research in the fight against Alzheimer.
Â
The graduate student has already received both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&M. Jones is one of seven players in the SEC to have played all five years at the same school.
Â
On the court, Jones is the active leader in points (9.5) and rebounds (7.0) per game. She is the shortest player in the league at 6'0" to have hauled in at least 7.0 rebounds per game this season.
