Taylor Earns First-Team All-SEC Honors for Third Straight Year

Wade Taylor IV was named first-team All-SEC for the third straight year by the league head coaches as the SEC office announced its annual men's basketball awards on Monday.

BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M graduate guard Wade Taylor IV was named first-team All-SEC for the third straight year by the league head coaches as the SEC office announced its annual men's basketball awards on Monday.

Taylor, from Dallas, Texas, becomes the first Aggie to win first-team all-conference honors three times in more than four decades. Taylor joins an elite handful of Aggies to do it with the most recent being Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Famer Vernon Smith, who finished his illustrious career in 1981 as the school record holder in career points and rebounds.

Taylor was joined by Auburn's Johni Broome, Florida's Walter Clayton Jr., Alabama's Mark Sears and Tennessee's Zakai Zeigler on the first team.

Taylor goes into this week's SEC Tournament in Nashville as the team's season leader in points (15.2/G), assists (career-high 4.3), assists/turnover ratio (career-high 1.72), free throws (104 total) and FT% (.874), and 3-pointers (2.5).

Taylor became Texas A&M's all-time leading scorer in the regular season finale vs. LSU, breaking the 22-year old record of 1,990 points set by Athletics Hall of Famer Bernard King from 1999-2003. Taylor goes into the SEC Tournament one shy of 2,000 points, which has been accomplished by only 27 players previously.
