FORT WORTH – The No. 17 Texas A&M women's golf team was in seventh after two rounds of action at the Colonial Country Club Monday at the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate.

"We can put up a good round tomorrow and that could move us up a whole lot more than you think," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "The margin of error becomes so much smaller when you're in a field like this. All of our mistakes were self-inflicted, and I know we can clean that up. You can see from the team scores that the golf course is going to win this week, but I feel like we can have a strong finish tomorrow."

In the loaded field of 11 of the top 20 teams in the country, the Aggies shot 14-over 574 thru 36 holes of play. Directly in front of the Maroon & White were No. 6 Texas (+12), No. 20 Arizona (+11) and No. 19 Auburn (+8). No. 3 Oregon (E), No. 9 Wake Forest (E) and No. 1 Stanford (+3) led the field.

Mia Nixon put together the lone round below par for the team Monday, starting the tournament off with a 1-under 69 on the par-70 course. The junior wrapped up the day tied for 20th at 2-over 142.

Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio also tied for 20th with Nixon at 2-over 142. The reigning SEC Freshman of the Week Vanessa Borovilos fired a 5-over 145 and held onto a share of 31st along with teammate Lauren Nguyen. Sky Sudberry rounded out the lineup tied for 70th.

The Aggies return to the course for the final round Tuesday morning at 8:15 a.m. Live stats for the tournament can be found at scoreboard.clippd.com.
