Aggies Fall in SEC Championship Final

The Texas A&M equestrian team fell to South Carolina, 11-8, in the SEC Championship Final Saturday morning at the Tryon International Equestrian Center.

Mill Spring, N.C. – The Texas A&M equestrian team fell to South Carolina, 11-8, in the SEC Championship Final Saturday morning at the Tryon International Equestrian Center.

The Aggies (8-7) faced a 3-2 deficit following Flat despite points from Maggie Nealon (79) and Devon Thomas (80). In Reining, Gracie Casebolt picked up the lone point for the Maroon & White with a ride of 70.17 on Shrek as Texas A&M headed to the break trailing 6-3.

After the half, the Aggies narrowed the Gamecocks' (8-5) lead to two, 8-6, with a 3-2 victory in Fences. Alexa Leong (79), Devon Thomas (84) and Alida Treuting (83.33) each recorded points for the Maroon & White.

Despite earning points from Meagan Braun (76.17) and Kaylynn Heitman (76.33) in Horsemanship, Texas A&M fell 11-8.

The Aggies will turn their attention to the NCEA Championship, which is scheduled for April 17-19 at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla.
