No. 4 Texas A&M Takes on No. 16 Georgia in SEC Road Test

The No. 4 Texas A&M softball team jumps back into SEC action with a three-game road series at No. 16 Georgia beginning with a Saturday doubleheader at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Jack Turner Stadium.

ATHENS – The No. 4 Texas A&M softball team jumps back into SEC action with a three-game road series at No. 16 Georgia beginning with a Saturday doubleheader at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Jack Turner Stadium.
 
Texas A&M (32-5, 6-3 SEC) and Georgia (25-11, 4-8 SEC) conclude the series Monday at 5 p.m. on the SEC Network. Game one of Saturday's doubleheader can be streamed on the SECN+, while game two is nationally broadcasted on ESPN2. Texas A&M hall of famer Amanda Scarborough will be in the booth as the Analyst joined by Matt Schumacker as the play-by-play. Each game can be followed through the airwaves on the 12th Man Mobile app or locally on Willy 1550 AM.
 
AGGIES IN THE SEC
Through four weekends of SEC action, Texas A&M's pitching staff paces the league holding opponents to a .214 batting average and its 48 hits allowed are the fewest among the 15 teams. Offensively, the Aggies rank second in batting average (.310) and fourth in on-base percentage (.401). Individually, Amari Harper leads the SEC in batting average (.600), on-base percentage (.696) and hit-by-pitches (5), while ranking second in slugging percentage (1.133). Kennedy Powell's five stolen bases are tied for a league best, while Emiley Kennedy has kept opposing hitters in check with the SEC's third-best opposing batting average at .180. The Maroon & White have won 13-of-19 SEC series in the Trisha Ford era, including two-of-three series in 2025.
 
TAKING THE SHOW ON THE ROAD
The Aggies hit the road for the first time since March 16 after finishing a nine-game homestand with an 8-1 record, including an SEC series win over No. 24 Alabama and a non-conference sweep of LMU. A&M run-ruled its opponent in five games, while Mya Perez (.583), Mac Barbara (.542), Harper (.538) and Koko Wooley (.500) each finished with a batting average over .500. Texas A&M is 5-0 in true road games, including an SEC sweep at No. 22 Auburn and a doubleheader sweep at No. 8 Florida State. Harper paces the offense with a .500 batting average, followed by Allie Enright (.471), Barbara (.438) and Kramer Eschete (.429). Harper is slashing .500/.636/1.000 on the road and leads the Aggies with a pair of home runs. Kennedy has been the go-to in the circle with 18 strikeouts in 20.0 innings of work with a 2-0 record in four appearances while holding the opposition to a .192 batting average at the dish.
 
WHERE THE AGGIES ARE NATIONALLY
Texas A&M is ranked No. 4 in the ESPN/USA Softball, NFCA and Softball America polls, while D1 Softball has the Aggies at No. 5 in the Week 8 polls. The Aggies have the No. 3 RPI in the nation, while their 13 wins against top 50 RPI teams are the third-most in the country. As of Thursday, the Aggies rank 13th in the nation in on-base percentage (.447) and batting average (.354), while their 272 total runs are 14th-most in the country and 331 hits are 19th-most. Individually, Perez ranks No. 9 in the country with 51 RBI, while Harper ranks 14th in on-base percentage (.573) and Perez ranks 18th (.566). Kennedy Powell's 41 runs are the 24th-most in the country.
 
GEORGIA PREVIEW
Junior Jaydyn Goodwin leads Georgia with a team-best .362 batting average, while fellow junior Tyler Ellison is batting .342 at the dish. Randi Roelling and Lilli Backes pace the pitching staff for the Bulldogs. Backes owns a 2.90 ERA in 87.0 innings work and Roelling has a 3.13 ERA in 91.2 innings pitched. Texas A&M last made the trip to Athens in 2019, while the Aggies will make the trip twice this season for this series and the SEC Tournament on May 6-11. The Maroon & White avoided the sweep in 2019 winning the series finale, 5-3. The two teams last faced each other in 2023 when the Bulldogs swept the Aggies at Davis Diamond.
