KNOXVILLE – The No. 14 Texas A&M men's tennis team claimed a nailbiter against No. 17 Tennessee, 4-3, on Friday at Barksdale Stadium.

Senior Luke Casper clinched the match for the Aggies after a back-and-forth third set. The senior used his veteran skills to pull apart from Jose Garcia to claim the last point, 5-7, 7-6, 6-4.

Texas A&M (16-8, 9-4 SEC) opened strong against Tennessee (17-7, 8-5 SEC) after earning the coveted doubles point. The duo of Giulio Perego and Ritesh Patil struck first defeating Jan Kobierski and Jose Garcia, 6-1. The No. 10 duo of Togan Tokac and Theo Papamalamis upset the No. 8 duo of Alejandro Moreno and Alex Kotzen on court 1, 6-3, to put the Aggie in the advantage.

The Volunteers struck first in singles action, claiming court 2. Junior Togan Tokac extened the Aggies lead, extending his winning streak to 11 after defeating Alan Jesudason, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 on court 5. Tennessee then battled back to get court 1.

Sophomore Tiago Pires put the Aggies one short of the victory after battling out to claim the last two sets against Alejandro Moreno on court 4 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. The Orange and White claimed court 6 to tie it three-all before Casper secured the victory.
