ATHENS – The No. 14 Texas A&M men's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker against the Georgia Bulldogs, 4-3, on Sunday at Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Texas A&M (16-9, 9-5 SEC) opened strong against Georgia (15-10, 8-6 SEC) after earning the coveted doubles point. The doubles tandem of Luke Casper and Theo Papamalamis made quick work on court 1 against Niels Ratiu and Oscar Pinto Sansano, 6-0. After losing court 2, the duo of Giulio Perego and Ritesh Patil forced a tie-breaker against Miguel Perez Pena/Gabriele Vulpitta, where they pulled out the victory, 7-6(5).

The back-and-forth battle continued into singles. The Bulldogs struck first claiming courts 5 and 4. Senior Perego struck first in singles against Mahjoob Cyrus on court 4, claiming his first conference singles win. Georgia then claimed court 3.

Freshman Papamalamis then tied the score 3-all with an upset victory over No. 28 Ryan Colby on court 1, 6-1, (3)6-7, 6-0, but the Bulldogs claimed court 2 to secure the victory.
