BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M standout Phichaksn Maichon was named SEC Co-Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Â
Maichon shared the honor with three other SEC golfers who won tournaments during the week. The Bangkok, Thailand, native earned his second win of the season and the fourth of his career with a victory at the Aggie Invitational.
Â
In a weekend when the challenging Traditions Club yielded just 21 round scores under par in 225 total rounds, Maichon cleared par in all three of his loops for a 6-under 210 tally.
Â
Maichon finished five strokes ahead of second-place Malan Potgieter of Louisiana. The senior led the field with 12 birdies and he was the only golfer to shoot under par on the course's par-4s.
Â
Powered by Maichon, the No. 19 Aggies topped No. 6 Oklahoma by nine strokes to earn the team's third victory of the season.
Â
Maichon has six top 10 finishes in his last seven outings, including two wins, a second and a third. He is slotted No. 23 in the Scoreboard National Rankings powered by Clippd. He has a 68.9 scoring average and a 729-135-27 W-L-T in 34 rounds.
