BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M men's basketball coach Bucky McMillan added another key piece to the Aggies' 2025-26 roster with the addition of Indiana transfer Mackenzie Mgbako on Thursday.

The 6-foot-9, 222-pound Mgbako, from Gladstone, New Jersey, was a McDonald's All-American and consensus 5-star recruit (No. 8 by Rivals, No. 9 by ESPN, and No. 10 by 247Sports) coming out of Roselle Catholic High School. He ranks as the highest-ranked recruit coming out of high school ever signed by the Texas A&M basketball team.

In two seasons at Indiana University, Mgbako averaged 12.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists while making 64 starts in 65 games for the Hoosiers. After earning Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year honors in 2024, Mgbako earned a spot on the watch list for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award in 2025. He had a pair of double-doubles for the Hoosiers: 12 points/12 rebounds at No. 10 Illinois (1/27/2024) and 15 points/11 rebounds vs. Michigan (2/8/2025).
As a sophomore in 2024-25, Mgbako ranked second on the team in points (389), rebounds (146), blocks (15) and 3-point percentage (.329). Additionally, he hit 81.0% while earning 79 trips to the free throw line. He reached double figures 19 times, including five games with 20 or more points. He tallied his career high of 31 points in the Hoosiers' season-opener vs. SIU-Edwardsville (11/6/2024).

In his first season in Bloomington, Mgbako earned a pair of Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors while reaching double-digit points in 25 games, including a trio of games with 20+ points. He logged his season high with 24 points in a road win over Maryland (3/3/2024). He ranked third on the team in scoring (404) and rebounds (135), and led the team with an 82.1 free throw percentage on 112 attempts.

He was one of two freshmen in the NCAA to score over 400 points, make at least 50 3-pointers, convert on 90-plus free throws, and grab at least 125 rebounds. Among Big Ten freshmen, Mgbako ranked No. 1 in points per game (12.2) and made free throws (92), No. 2 in made 3-pointers (50) and No. 3 in rebounds per game (4.1) and minutes per game (27.1).
