Aggies Drop Series Opener at No. 1 Tennessee

The Texas A&M baseball team dropped the series opener to No. 1 Tennessee, 10-0, in seven innings Friday evening at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

KNOXVILLE – The Texas A&M baseball team dropped the series opener to No. 1 Tennessee, 10-0, in seven innings Friday evening at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
 
The Volunteers (28-2, 9-1) opened the scoring in the second with a solo shot to right and later extended their lead to 4-0 in the third courtesy of a three-run home run. In the frame, a costly two-out error by the Aggies (14-15, 1-9) extended the inning.
 
Tennessee tacked on a solo homer in the fifth and a five-run frame in the sixth to make the final 10-0.
 
Ryan Prager (2-2) was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs, three earned, in 5.2 innings of work. On the offensive side, Jace LaViolette set the program record for walks after drawing the 141st of his career in the sixth.
