NORMAN, Okla. – Texas A&M's Matt Fast has been named a finalist for the 2025 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award presented by TaylorMade, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Thursday.

Two assistant coaches, one Division I and one non-Division I, will earn the award. Fast is one of four Division I finalists, joined by Bo Andrews of Tennessee, Noah Goldman of North Carolina and Thomas Sutton of Arizona State.

This season, Fast has helped propel the Aggies to the No. 12 spot in the Scoreboard Rankings powered by Clippd. Texas A&M owns three tournament titles in 2024-25, including the Furman Intercollegiate, Sea Best Invitational and Aggie Invitational. They also have runner-up showings at the SEC Championship, Louisiana Classics and the Qubein Cup. The Maroon & White extended a league-record with their sixth consecutive semifinal appearance at the SEC Championship last week.

The Aggies have experienced loads of success during Fast's four seasons as an assistant coach. The Maroon & White have claimed 11 tournament titles during the span, including three or more wins in three seasons. They boast 10 PING All-Central Region, seven GCAA All-America Scholar and six PING All-America selections with Fast on staff.

Fast would join Jim Anderson, current Arizona head coach, as Aggie assistant coaches to claim the laurel. Anderson earned the award in 2012.

The Maroon & White enter NCAA play with four of their players reaching their highest ranking of the season. Phichaksn Maichon, who owns individual titles at the Sea Best Invitational and Aggie Invitational is slotted No. 18 in the Scoreboard Rankings. Other A&M players on the rise include Wheaton Ennis (No. 82), Michael Heidelbaugh (No. 113) and Aaron Pounds (No. 167).
