Kupres Advances to ITA Texas Regional Championship Final

FORT WORTH – Mia Kupres of the Texas A&M women's tennis team claimed a spot in the NCAA Singles Championship by winning her ITA Texas Regional Championship semifinal match Monday at the Friedman Center.
No. 22 Kupres took down Raquel Caballero Chica of TCU, 6-0, 7-5, to advance to the championship match. The two finalists earned spots NCAA Singles Championship held in Orlando from Nov. 18-23.
No. 38 Kupres/Daria Smetannikov dropped a grueling semifinal match against Na Dong/Zuzanna Kubacha of Baylor, 7-5, 6-1. While Violeta Martinez/Anna Perelman fell in a double tiebreaker sets to Yu-Chin Tsai/Victoria Gomez O'Hayon of TCU, 7-6(0), 7-6(2).
The singles final is slated for 10 a.m., Tuesday where Kupres matches up against Darya Schwartzman of Rice.
