HOUSTON – Texas A&M's Cashius Howell, Taurean York and Trey Zuhn III were named to the Lombardi Award Midseason Watch List, the Lombardi Award Committee announced Tuesday.
Howell, a senior defensive end from Kansas City, Missouri, leads the SEC with 8.0 sacks (1.33 per game) and 9.0 tackles for loss (1.5 per game), while earning an overall defensive grade of 87.3 and a 90.5 grade on pass rush snaps for the season according to Pro Football Focus. Howell's 23.5 career sacks rank third on the NCAA active sacks leaderboard.
York, a junior linebacker from Temple, Texas, leads the team with 39 tackles and ranks in the top 10 in the SEC in tackles per game. A two-time team captain, York has produced above 70.0 grades in overall defense, run defense, pass rush snaps and pass coverage, according to PFF. Also Texas A&M's tackle leader last season, York needs five stops to reach 200 for his career.
Zuhn III, a graduate student offensive tackle from Fort Collins, Colorado, has made 38 consecutive starts at left tackle and a total of 43 for his career. With Zuhn clearing the way, the Aggies' offense is one of just five nationally ranking in the top 40 in total yards, passing efficiency, rushing, scoring and time of possession. Additionally, Texas A&M ranks No. 2 in the nation in fewest tackles for losses per game (2.8 per game).
The Lombardi Award™, presented annually to the nation's best college offensive or defensive lineman, will be awarded at a ceremony in Houston, Texas, on December 10, 2025.
The Aggies (3-0 in SEC play) return to action with the team's first trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas in over a decade for a 2:30 p.m. league matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks (2-4 overall, 0-2 in SEC play) on Saturday.
