
MEET PREVIEW: Arturo Barrios Invitational

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M cross country team returns home to host the Arturo Barrios Invitational at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course Friday morning with the men's 8k starting at 8:30 a.m. and the women's 6k at 9:15 a.m.
Last time out, the Aggies competed against a stacked field at the Paul Short Run securing a pair of top-four finishes. The men placed third in the 8k led by Cooper Cawthra for the second-straight meet, while the women finished fourth in the 6k paced by Megan Roberts for the second time this season.
"We are excited to be back at home racing at the Watts course," distance coach Wendel McRaven said. "Our kids love our course and all the support racing at home brings with it. This is our last quiz before the tests of the championship season. We always use the Barrios meet to experiment with things before the championship phase of racing begins."
The Maroon & White welcome 37 teams to Aggieland including Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, Baylor, Houston, Incarnate Word, Lamar, LeTourneau, Louisiana, LSU, McNeese State, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, Nelson University, New Mexico State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Dakota, North Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma (W), Oklahoma City, Our Lady of the Lake, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU (W), Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulsa (W), UT-Arlington, UT-Rio Grande Valley, UTEP, UTSA and Wake Forest (W).
"This will be a big, quality field and we expect to be in the hunt to win team titles," McRaven continued. "We have two good teams, and we are coming off very solid team performances at Lehigh two weeks ago."
