
No. 10 Volleyball Hosts Oklahoma in Friday Contest

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 10 Texas A&M Volleyball team returns home to host Oklahoma Friday evening at Reed Arena with first serve set for 6:30 p.m.
The Maroon & White enter their fourth week of league play following a straight-set victory over Mississippi State in Starkville. The win marked head coach Jamie Morrison's 50th win at the helm of the program
Senior Logan Lednicky delivered a match-high 15 kills to move into the top 10 in program history for career kills. Following Lednicky, freshman Megan Fitch had a breakout performance, notching a career-best 12 kills while hitting .346 and adding two aces.
Ifenna Cos-Okpalla continued to anchor the defense as she recorded six blocks on the night. Ava Underwood steadied the back row providing 10 digs for her second double digit outing in a row.
The Matchups
Friday's contest marks the 47th all-time meeting between Texas A&M and Oklahoma. The Aggies boast a 37-9 edge over the Sooners including a 14-3 advantage when playing on their home court. The Maroon & White claimed the most recent matchup last year, sweeping Oklahoma, 3-0, in Norman.
Both programs have started the year on the front foot, as Texas A&M is 13-3 overall and 5-1 in SEC play, while the Sooners hold a 12-4 ledger and are 4-2 in conference play. Oklahoma enters the contest following a loss versus Georgia but is consistent on the road at 3-1 this season.
Looking at the programs on the stat sheet, the Maroon & White hold the advantage offensively leading the Sooners in kills per set (14.40), assists per set (13.67) and hitting percentage (.282). Oklahoma impresses defensively at the net, as it ranks third in the league in blocks per set (.259), however the Aggies top the SEC in opponent hitting percentage (.162) and rank in the top half in digs per set (14.46).

Emily Hellmuth is one kill from 500 since joining Texas A&M last season and is 28 from 1,000 career kills.
