Oct 19, 2025 | Soccer
COLUMBIA – The Texas A&M soccer team played the No. 8 South Carolina Gamecocks to a 0-0 stalemate in the Aggies' final regular season road trip Sunday evening at Stone Stadium.
With the draw, the Aggies remained in a tie with Auburn for the final spot heading to the SEC Tournament. The Tigers own the tie-breaker with both teams having one match remaining. Texas A&M (5-6-5, 2-5-2 SEC) hosts Kentucky next Sunday while Auburn hosts Missouri.
The contest was rough-and-tumble throughout with South Carolina owning an 11-9 edge in shots while Texas A&M held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Shots-on-goal were even at 2-2. The squads were issued two yellow cards apiece in the bruising affair.
The Texas A&M backline, including Kat Campbell, Bell James, Riley Crooks, Hattie Patterson, Hayden Wilson and Bella Yakel surrendered just two shots on frame. Aggie goalkeeper Maysen Veronda earned her third shutout in the last five matches.
The Aggies were the more influential squad in the first half, owing a 5-2 edge in shots, 4-0 in corner kicks and 1-0 in shots-on-goal.

On the match...
"I'm proud of our players. These women have stepped up time after time despite all the injuries to some key players. The next woman steps up and just puts everything she has into it. To go on the road in this league and get a point against another top 10 team is a testament to how hard these guys work. We had some great chances that could have easily won it, or we could have won it with some better bounces.
On the message to the team heading into the finale...
"It's almost like a championship Sunday for us because we have everything to play for. If we win, you have a good chance for a postseason run, but if we don't win, then that will be the end to a bounce-back season they put a lot of hard work and effort into."
