BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M volleyball's Logan Lednicky was named SEC Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week, while Maddie Waak garnered SEC Setter of the Week honors following a pair of home sweeps, the league announced Monday afternoon.
The Aggies had another dominant week of conference play which earned them three weekly conference accolades, following sweeps over Oklahoma and Arkansas. Lednicky captured her first two honors of the season, which also marked the first overall SEC Player of the Week nod and second Offensive Player of the Week title of her career. Waak also was selected for her first weekly award, capturing her third career SEC Setter of the Week accolade.
Lednicky had her most productive showings of the season so far, racking up 32 kills, 23 digs and hit at .491 percent over the weekend. Her standout performance came in Sunday's contests versus Arkansas, where she tied her own program record with 22 kills in a three-set match which is the most by any player in the SEC this season. The Sugar Land, Texas, native's efficiency versus the Razorbacks was staggering, hitting .606 percent which also set her career high in games with over 10 kills. Along with her incredible offensive production, she ensured a pair of double doubles with her kills and digs, leading the team in both categories in each fixture.
Waak continued to show why she's the premier setter in the nation, as the national leader in assists per set tacked on another 65 dimes through six frames of work. She too was lights out versus Arkansas, averaging 12 assists per set and orchestrated the offense to hit an impressive .357 percent as a unit. The Katy, Texas, native also showed her versatility, tying her career high in blocks with three and matching her season high in kills with four on the afternoon.
The Aggies return to action Friday as they head to Baton Rouge to face the LSU Tigers with first serve set for 7 p.m.
